Musical?

The other night I went to see Alice in Wonderland at the Landers Theatre. The show was probably the biggest show I have ever seen at the Landers. Every song was a show-stopper with 60+ people on stage at a time. It made me wonder...

Could I write a musical?

Springfield has a very lively Performing Arts scene. There are 3 theaters downtown (not including the Skinny Improv) and each of them are regularly showcases the talents of Springfield. It wouldn't be unheard of for a local musician to write a musical in this town. It may be unheard for a twelve-year-old to write a full blown musical and have it performed in front of a real audience. I thought of a few ways to perform it:

• Live Web Stream
• Film it and show it at locally owned movie theater the Moxie
• Traditional Performance
• Put together a band to play the music and have the band perform with the actors
• Or even performing it on the street downtown

The traditional performance would be the least favored option. I would like it to be something new that hasn't ever been done in Springfield, MO. I stole the live web stream idea from Amanda Palmer and the band performing with the actors from The Decemberists (even though they never really performed like that). I still haven't a clue as to what it would be about but a imagine a fairly bizarre story. Any ideas?

Thing-a-week #4- I'm No Fool

You lay wrapped in your numerous layers

of cloth and wool and fur

Your cheeks are painted a crisp brick red

All lines erased but eraser shreds stain

You've worn a hole in your coat

right over your heart

Thumping violently off beat

You sink in the ground

Surrounded by illusions

of your former dreams

Walk off stage change your costume

but I'm no fool

I'm no fool

I'm no fool

But I sure waist my time

Quite a show but the audience leaves

out of boredom

But they would never do such a thing

not to your face

Curtains close and they stand and applaud

they throw stones

but they don't break your bones

un-aware of antics you cause

You bow

but I'm no fool

I'm no fool

I'm no fool

I'm no fool

I'm no fool

I'm no fool

I'm no fool

But I sure waist my time

You lay wrapped in your numerous layers

of cloth and wool and fur

Creepy Hackers!

My friend was recently hacked on his Facebook account and the man/woman said some things that really pissed off some of the Summit students. He commented on many statuses and spread lies and said many inappropriate things. We (Summit students who were involved) all believe it was a male Summit student because of the personalized messages including first and last names.

If you know information on the incident feel free to talk to Mitchell, Sarah or Toby.

Stop hacking all you hackers and all you non-hackers with Facebooks be cautious!

Not That Old of a Thing...

Lyrics:

Listen up all you fearless boys

who steal the adults money for cards and toys

you're not going to keep it up

for the rest of your life

Because summer time will pass

and fall will come

and we'll act with a bit more class

he'll shoo you out the door

and you'll catch the bus

without even touching the floor

Get to school and slump back in your chair

Leave the school not one teacher pretends to care

Invisible Bodies

Invisible Bodies

Invisible Bodies

Invisible Bodies

Run through the kitchen and past your books

walk into father an expressionless look

walk right past and still no response

but as you leave he mumbles a song

Invisible Bodies

Invisible Bodies

Invisible Bodies

Invisible Bodies

An Old Thing...

I originally wrote this song this past summer right before Independence Day. My mom has always been opposed to fireworks so it was extremely rare for us to be shooting off Roman Candles in the middle of the street. I thought the idea of having fireworks in your basement and burning down the whole city was cool so I wrote a song. I finished the song a week ago and I wanted to share it with all of my followers.

It's called Roman candles.

Thing-a-week #3 - You, My Ukulele!

The song is about my old ukulele and the times we had playing with my band The Scribbles

Check out our music at http://www.myspace.com/thescribbles1

Lyrics:

There you lay in the corner

So lonely and disgraceful

I'll pick you up and strum away

Because I know that you are playful

I'll start a band and play happy songs

we'll play them all night but they won't be long

People will watch and clap their hands

We'll play lots of shows with lots of bands

You: My Ukulele

And Me

You: My Ukulele

And Me

We'll pack up our gear

as stage lights glow

and head off to another show

Microphones and lots of noise

We'll play our music

with an infants toys

You: My Ukulele

And Me

You: My Ukulele

And Me

The night will come and we'll say goodbye

We'll sleep right through the cold sunrise

We'll write more songs

and practice a lot

we'll stick together

through cold and hot

You: My Ukulele

And Me

You: My Ukulele

And Me

You: My Ukulele

And Me

You: My Ukulele

And Me

Urgent Announcement!

Bob Dylan will be coming to the Shrine Mosque in Springfield, MO on October 25. He is touring very few cities this time so it's strange that he would play in this boring old town. Paste considered him the greatest living songwriter. Tickets are a bank busting $46 but most of Springfield will try to make it in.

My plan is to sell "soy bomb" shirts in front of the entrance.

Try to make it if you can. Should be an awesome show.
