And now a moment of silence...

My first ukulele (technically not mine. My little brothers.) is smashed. Dead. Forever gone. I hope I can reuse the bits and pieces for something... Maybe a diy banjolele? I went through a lot with that thing. *sigh* Well, here's a pic.

A song?!?!?!?!?! WTF?!?!?!

Guess what? A cover!!!!!! YAY!!! MUSIC!!! You've probably gotten sick of me talking. So yep. A cover of the Magnetic Field's The Book of Love. It's the first Magnetic Fields song I'd ever heard and it got me hooked on the band. So here it is along with the lyrics:

The book of love is long and     boring

No one can lift the damn thing

It's full of charts and facts and figures
and instructions for dancing

but I

I love it when you read to me
and you

you can read me anything
The book of love has music in it
In fact that's where music comes from
Some of it is just transcendental

Some of it is just really dumb

but I

I love it when you sing to me

and you
you can sing me anything

The book of love is long and boring
and written very long ago
It's full of flowers and heart-shaped boxes
and things we're all too young to know

but I
I love it when you give me things
and you
you ought to give me wedding rings
I
I love it when you give me things

and you
you ought to give me wedding rings

My thoughts on music after watching The Runaways

If you haven't already, I would go see the Runaways (for all you springfieldians, it's at the Moxie and should be at Hollywood 14 in May.) It's a great movie. Pretty graphic though. I enjoyed it. And I must say, I feel like I should change as a musician after watching it.
There was something that really appealed to me about playing crappy loud music in front of people who don't want to hear you and are throwing stuff at you. Now there was quite a lot of drug usage in the film, and that doesn't appeal to me at all. But the actual music.
The ukulele just doesn't fulfill my needs anymore. Don't get me wrong, it's wonderful instrument and it's portable and easy to play. It's great. But there's something about playing loudly with distortion and lots of reverb that is just so appealing. I miss my cover band days... Just playing with a full band with drums and noise and feedback. It's a wonderful feeling. Completely different than what I'm doing with the Scribbles and "solo". I'll have fun either way, it's just that I need something new. And something loud.
Also on a completely new side of music, I've learned how to use Abelton Live. It's cool to do that sort of techno/electronic thing with midi controllers, cool synths, and all that jazz. But I get sick of the repetitiveness after like 15 min. It's still fun to know how to do though.
Now back to what I was really talking about. Loud music.
Not just loud music, noisy, intentionally bad music. Simple lyrics, simple chords, but loud and rebellious. And I would never do it with complete seriousness, I would take the Andrew WK route. You know that whole thing with him and the Steev Mike thing and him not being real. Personally, I think even if it's all fake and he's a group of people who trade out the role of Andrew WK, that it just makes him an even cooler "artist". But that's another blog post.
Lately, I've just felt the need to make loud music, that you can party to. Not for me to party to. I'm not much of a partier, but for other people who are.
I'm not sure how I will find the loud music I'm looking for or if I ever will, but I just wanted to let you know what my thoughts are at the moment with music.

Goodbye.

Formatting my Blog

If you haven't noticed yet, I've been changing the layout and colors on my blog. I got bored once and changed it to an ugly brown color. A.J. and Lydia thought it looked like poop so I decided to change it again. So I changed it to a somewhat cooler grey and baby blue thing. This also upset A.J. and lydia. So I decided to change it completely to a new format. This is what I have now. Is it good A.J. and Lydia? What do you think?

A 30th Post Celebration!

This post commemorates 30 pathetic blog posts some being videos of original songs, a few covers I think, me apologizing for not posting a song at the time I said I would, and then a lot of these sorts of things (me wasting your time.) I remember the days when I actually put songs on here.... Good times. Hopefully more of that will be coming soon.
So this week is spirit week at the Summit Preparatory and todays spirit day is opposite gender day. So all the kids were supposed to wear clothes of the opposite gender. Almost all of the girls participated but sadly I was the only male dressed as a female. They're just not comfortable enough with their manhood to dress as a girl. I'm the cool one. Or at least that's what I tell myself.
Here is a picture of my bow and glasses:

Plans for Show! (finally...)

Normally I've got a show almost every weekend and some weekends two shows, but lately I've been "showless". Despite my lack of giging, I've been able to keep busy with Robeo and Julietech and other school events. But now I've got a real show! YEAH!!!
I guess I shouldn't say real show because I did the same show last year and we had a pretty pathetic audience. Not that it wasn't fun. It was a lot of fun. We just didn't have a constant audience. Hopefully we'll attract more attention this year.
Maybe I should tell you the date and location and stuff now.... So May 1st we'll be playing at Artsfest located on historic Walnut Street. Try to  come if you can! But you probably won't come...

The end of the world is coming....
